past two years the railway has increased freight car upgrade dollars. Specially
featured is BNSF’s Aircraft Parts Car fleet dedicated to hauling Boeing
jetliner fuselages from Kansas City to its plant at Everett, Wash. Format for
cars featured include mostly 7.5" wide color photos of paint schemes,
official car diagrams, technical data, yearly car totals since 1995 plus other

RAILWAY 2008 LOCOMOTIVE REVIEW ©2008
by Robert C. Del Grosso.
This 9th Edition in the series catalogues BNSF Railway’s entire
fleet of owned and leased locomotives by roster number series and model with
coverage through BNSF RAILWAY FREIGHT
CARS, Volume Two ©2008 by
Robert C. Del Grosso, is a selected photographic and statistical record
of the company’s new and merger-acquired revenue freight car fleet
from 1995 through 2007. The 170 mostly 7.5” color photographs
illustrate the standard heritage and new bold heritage paint schemes on
various car types, plus the more unusual versions. Others include
Cascade green, gray, white, the different types of reporting marks and
the BNSF heralds. Most interesting are one-of-a-kind cars since retired
and other rare cars still in service wearing BNSF paint schemes. Perfect
historically correct modeling projects! Historical statistics include a
yearly count of those cars still in service for those car series
featured, a roster and car count for BNSF car series where all have
since been retired and the same for pre-merger car series never
earmarked for BNSF car numbers. Line drawings from official diagram
sheets along with car dimensions and capacities accompany the old and
new cars featured. In all, Volume Two is an expanded version of BNSF
Railway Freight Cars, Volume One, published in 2004 with both presenting
a detailed ongoing history of the revenue freight car fleet ●

Across the Mojave Desert by Robert C. Del Grosso. ©2005 This book is

NORTHWEST, A PART of the WHOLE, THE BNSF RAILWAY in the PACIFIC
NORTHWEST by Robert C.
Del Grosso. BNSF Northwest is a detailed description of BNSF Railway
operations within the Northwest since the corporate merger in September
1995. As everyone knows, BNSF in the Northwest is the end result of the
railways that came before it. All mainline routes are therefore
discussed thoroughly as to their histories. The complete SP&S is
represented, NP with its Stampede Pass and “Funnel” route, and GN
with its Stevens Pass, Marias Pass and the Hi Line. The BN is discussed
as to its operations in the Northwest during its 26-year history. It did
far more than was generally given credit for. Included are line
closures, its development of the intermodal business, and how it changed
the faces of the railroad lines that merged into it. The BNSF is phased
in as to how it carried on after the BN. Feature stories include the
major commodities that sustain BNSF Northwest, i.e. grain, intermodal
and Canadian carload traffic, the new Pacific Coast/I-5 Corridor, and
the 7-year track capacity expansion plan that progressed for three years
(that included the “Funnel” and reopening Stampede Pass), but was
abruptly discontinued after 3 years and never explained. Read how
Canadian port and rail operations dented BNSF Northwest in terms of
intermodal growth. In
all, this book is packed with historical dates and facts about the GN,
NP, SP&S, BN, and the BNSF. It is presented in a dual style of an
informative text and guide so the serious historian and railfan can read
about and also visit those places. This book has been more than a year
in the making and the most definitive historical work done by Mr. Del
Grosso. It is also his first all-color hardbound large format reference
